Distance Education (e-learning)

The Department of Distance Education (SEAD) is the body responsible for promoting educational and training initiatives within UFES’s distance learning programme, in which the didactic and pedagogical interaction between teaching and learning processes takes place through the use of information and communication technologies, in the virtual learning environments, and in person at municipal venues, in support of the Open University of Brazil (UAB) and other educational settings.

The process of developing public policies for distance learning in Brazil began with the definition of guidelines and foundations for national education, in which the government began to play a role in encouraging the development of distance learning, establishing it as an effective tool for democratising access to higher education and an option for professional qualification.
